About Mirtos
In the past, Mirtos was a small village in Crete, Greece. People lived there since ancient times, but the village we see today only started in the early 1900s. Before that, it was a place where locals traded goods and sent them to nearby towns. Back then, pirates made it dangerous, so the village didn’t grow much.
Nowadays, Mirtos is thriving, but it’s still charming and keeps its old-fashioned vibe. In summer, it’s lively with tourists enjoying the beach, and in winter, it’s peaceful with locals doing farm work. Even then, the weather stays pretty warm, so it’s a nice place to spend the holidays.
Mirtos isn’t a party town, but you can still have fun. There aren’t any big clubs, but the village hosts music nights, and the restaurants and bars are cosy places to hang out. During the day, you can relax on the beach, go diving, explore, or just chill out.
At night, you can try delicious Cretan food and wine at the local restaurants. They often stay open late, so you can enjoy your meal even after midnight!
But be careful, once you visit Mirtos, you might want to keep coming back. We at Villa Nostos want to make sure you have a great time during your stay!
